President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, on March 3, hosted a delegation led by European Commission Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jørgensen, discussing ways to expand Azerbaijan’s electricity exports to European markets and strengthen broader energy ties with the EU.
The meeting took place during the 12th ministerial session of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 4th ministerial session of the Green Energy Advisory Council in Baku, Caliber.Az reports, citing the president's official website.
Dan Jørgensen highlighted that the Azerbaijani President’s address at the inauguration of the 12th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council made a strong impression on them.
He stressed the importance of the gatherings, underscored the value of Azerbaijan as a partner, and expressed interest in deepening future collaboration, while also conveying appreciation for the achievements reached through existing cooperation.
President Aliyev referenced last year’s visits to Azerbaijan by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas, and EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, describing the active engagement of both sides as a demonstration of the will of both parties to deepen cooperation in energy and communications.
The discussions focused on Azerbaijan’s role in European energy security, prospects for expanding electricity exports to the European market, and potential collaboration in the natural gas and green energy sectors.
