Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a series of talks in New Delhi on December 4–5, which became a key moment of the bilateral summit.
Their one-on-one conversation on December 4 lasted more than 2.5 hours, according to Yuri Ushakov, aide to the Russian president.
As reported by Russian media, the official welcome ceremony was hosted by Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi at the Presidential Palace. Putin also visited the Mahatma Gandhi memorial. The negotiations began in a narrow format and then continued in an expanded format with the participation of ministers.

The main topics of discussion included trade and economic cooperation, energy, industry, science, and humanitarian ties. The sides are preparing a substantial package of bilateral documents and commercial agreements.
Narendra Modi called Putin’s visit “historically significant” and emphasised that the regular exchange of views on Ukraine demonstrates the high level of trust between the two countries. India, he said, will continue to advocate for a peaceful settlement.
Among the agreements reached are efforts to introduce a 30-day visa-free regime for tourist groups and the development of the North–South transport corridor. Putin reported progress in preparing a free trade agreement between India and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). In addition, an agreement was signed on the construction of a pharmaceutical plant in Russia’s Kaluga Region and the launch of several projects under the “Make in India” program.

Putin noted that 96% of mutual commercial settlements are already conducted in national currencies and that trade potential could reach $100 billion. Modi also said that the sides have agreed on an economic cooperation program until 2030, which should make bilateral trade more diversified and resilient.
Following the talks, the leaders gave statements to the press. An official luncheon accompanied by a concert program was held in honour of the Russian president.
