Rescue teams race against time as 74 confirmed dead in Bangkok building collapse
The death toll from the collapse of the under-construction Office of the Auditor General building in Bangkok has risen to 74, according to the city administration.
Rescue operations are ongoing, as 20 people remain missing beneath the rubble of the 30-story building, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Suriyachai Rawivan, Director of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, stated that "rescuers are working to retrieve the bodies of 10 construction workers that have been located, but access is restricted by reinforced concrete slabs."
The magnitude 8.2 earthquake struck Myanmar on March 28. The number of fatalities in the country has reached 3,800. The quake also impacted Thailand, with strong tremors felt in Bangkok and its surroundings, as well as in the northern, northeastern, central, and southern regions of the kingdom. The Office of the Auditor General building was the only structure in Bangkok to collapse as a result of the disaster.
