Ruling power sees no prerequisites for change of power in Armenia
Chairman of the Armenian State Revenue Committee (unites tax and customs services), ex-Minister of Justice, Rustam Badasyan, has seen no prerequisites for a change of power in Armenia.
“Public support is required to change the government. We do not see any public support at a level sufficient for a change of power,” Badasyan told reporters, commenting on the rallies in Yerevan, Caliber.Az reports referring to the Armenian media.
The ex-minister is sure that the officials come to power in Armenia exclusively upon the will of people.
As for the economic consequences of the rallies, these rallies will not have any great negative effect globally. However, a certain decline may be observed in the tourism or services sector at the local level, given the closure of roads, the blocked traffic in the city.
“The police officers’ actions are proportional. At least, no illegal actions were taken. If there were any cases of abuse of authority, then the competent organizations should respond to this,” the chairman of the Committee noted.
Badasyan served as minister of justice in Armenia from 2019 through 2021.
The rallies are held in Yerevan for several weeks, rally participants periodically block the streets. The opposition demands the resignation of the Armenian government.
