Russia claims int'l bodies "cover up" Kyiv crimes after journalist injured
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused international organizations, including the UN, OSCE, and UNESCO, of attempting to “camouflage the crimes of the Kyiv authorities,” claiming such actions “encourage Banderites to commit new atrocities.”
According to a statement on the ministry’s official website, Zakharova’s comments were made in the context of the recent injury sustained by an Izvestia journalist in Ukraine.
She argued that when international organizations conceal or downplay alleged crimes by Ukrainian authorities, it undermines the global system designed to protect human rights, including free access to information and freedom of expression.
On April 6, Izvestia reported that its correspondent, evgeny Bykovsky, was injured in a drone strike. The publication said Bykovsky suffered an acubarotrauma (concussion), a general bodily injury caused by the sudden impact of an explosive airwave, combining barotrauma (pressure-related damage) and acoustic trauma (sound-related injury).
