Russia accuses Macron of encouraging attacks on civilians

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Russian media on August 5 that French President Emmanuel Macron’s call to increase pressure on Russia amounted to an instruction to carry out attacks against civilians.

Zakharova was commenting on remarks by Macron in which he said that “the EU and its partners will continue to increase pressure on Russia and will not succumb to fatigue or intimidation."

“By calling for increased pressure on Russia, Macron is directly instructing [others] to carry out terrorist attacks against civilians. France should know that its leadership is personally participating in terrorist activity against women and children,” Zakharova said.
