Russia attacks Ukraine with 62 drones overnight
Russian forces conducted a nighttime attack on Ukraine on the night of 1–2 December, deploying 62 strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including Shahed, Gerbera, and other types, with more than 35 identified as Shahed drones.
Early reports indicate that, as of 08:30, Ukrainian air defence units had shot down or jammed 39 Russian UAVs—including Shahed, Gerbera, and other models—over northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine. A total of 20 UAV strikes were recorded across eight locations, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Ukrainian Air Forces.
The air assault was countered by anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the defence forces. The attack remains ongoing, with several Russian UAVs reportedly still operating in Ukrainian airspace.
