Russia blames France for disrupted diplomatic dialogue, US talks
Russia has asserted that it has never refused dialogue with France, but claims that official Paris, on its own initiative, suspended all diplomatic contacts.
The statement was made at a briefing by Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“It should be reminded that the refusal to engage in dialogue was not our choice, but the decision of the French leadership, which, of course, has full right to act as it sees fit. But, perhaps, it is important that actions somehow correspond to their statements,” Zakharova emphasized.
She further accused France of actively attempting to undermine negotiations between Russia and the United States, adding:
“Indeed, it must be acknowledged that few other European countries today do as much to undermine Russian-American negotiating efforts as France,” she stressed.
