Russia expels thousands of Kyrgyz workers amid rising migration enforcement
Russian law enforcement agencies have issued 224,000 administrative protocols against Kyrgyz citizens for migration-related offences during the first seven months of 2025, according to Almazbek Biybosov, a spokesperson for the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry.
At a press conference, Baybosov stated that from the start of the year until August, 224,000 administrative cases had been recorded against Kyrgyz nationals in Russia, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
"A total of 3,748 individuals have been expelled for administrative violations. Additionally, 292 citizens have been deported, many of whom faced criminal charges.”
He added that, in the first quarter of 2025, around 352,000 Kyrgyz citizens were registered on migration records in Russia, holding approximately 680,000 labour and civil contracts.
Baybosov clarified that the figure reflects multiple contracts per individual.
On August 11, Kamchybek Tashiev, head of Kyrgyzstan’s State Committee for National Security, urged Kyrgyz labour migrants to return home from abroad amid the tightening migration controls.
