Russia faces shortage of iPhone spare parts, screens, batteries
The Russian authorised Apple service centres have faced a shortage of parts needed to repair the iPhone.
First and foremost, there is a scarcity of screens and batteries, which is why repairs, which are usually completed on the day of treatment, can take up to five days or more, Russian daily Izvestia writes.
In the "NB Service," for example, the device received for repair is sent to an Apple representative's office, where the battery is replaced, and then returned to the service centre.
According to Mobile Research Group chief analyst Eldar Murtazin, Apple smartphones are increasingly being denied repair because screens and other components for some models have worn out.
However, whereas smartphones imported earlier by Apple are required to be repaired under warranty, gadgets received in Russia via "parallel import" are not covered by Apple's warranty. Any issues with such smartphones will be the responsibility of the importer or seller.
Representatives of retailers told Izvestia that they fulfil all warranty obligations in full.
