The Russian government has drawn up a list of Azerbaijani vessels that are allowed multiple transit passages from Astrakhan to the Sea of Azov (and in the opposite direction) through the Volga-Don Canal.
The corresponding order was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Caliber.Az reports, citing the head of the Azerbaijani Caspian Shipping Company CJSC (Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Closed Joint-Stock Company), Mehman Mehdiyev.
There are 17 vessels on the list. They are - "Qaradağ", "Teymur Əhmədov", "Maestro Niyazi", "Qafur Məmmədov", "Üzeyir Hacıbəyli", "Natəvan", "Rəsul Rza", "Hüsein Cavid", "General Aslanov", "Şair Sabir", "Şair Vaqif", "Mahmud Rəhimov", "Gəncə", "Professor Çziz Çliyev", "Laçın", "Kəlbəcər" and "Akademik Xoşbəxt Yusifzadə".
At the same time, they will have to pass the Russian border, customs, sanitary-epidemiological, quarantine, phytosanitary and veterinary control.
The draft of vessels is set at 2.18 metres (last year it was 2.3 metres) due to the lowering of the Caspian Sea level in the northern part of the sea.
