Russia rethinks energy supply routes as Middle East tensions rise
25 March 2026 16:16
Russia is reviewing its energy supply chains and will prioritise neighbouring countries with shared borders, Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev said, citing the ongoing escalation in the Middle East.
Tsivilev described the military conflict as a major challenge for the global economy, requiring the construction of new logistical systems, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
He explained that the effective blockade of the Strait of Hormuz puts “any supply chain at risk.”
“Therefore, we are now rethinking these supply chains. We will primarily deliver energy resources to our closest neighbours, where there are fewer risks, and we will also review other logistics for oil product deliveries,” the minister noted.
