Russia's drone strike on Sumy: One killed, six injured Photo
One person was killed and six others, including two children, were injured in a Russian drone attack in northeastern Ukraine’s Sumy, regional prosecutor's office said on February 17.
According to investigators, the attack occurred at around 3:10 a.m. local time on February 17, 2026 in the Kyrykivka community of the Okhtyrka district. Preliminary data indicate that Russian forces used three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to strike residential homes, Caliber.Az reports.
A 68-year-old woman was killed in the attack. Her family members — a 42-year-old son, his 40-year-old wife and their two sons, aged seven and 15 — were wounded. In a neighbouring house, a 79-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man also sustained injuries.
All of the injured were hospitalised and are receiving medical treatment, prosecutor's office said.
Authorities said prosecutors, working in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, are documenting the aftermath of the strike.
Under the procedural guidance of the Okhtyrka District Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into suspected war crimes resulting in death under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
