Russia’s gas exports to Türkiye fall 6% in first four months of year
Russia reduced its pipeline natural gas exports to Türkiye by 6% year-on-year during the first four months of the year, calculations based on data released by Türkiye’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) confirmed.
The figures show that Türkiye imported a combined 1.97 billion cubic metres of Russian gas in April via the TurkStream and Blue Stream pipelines, both of which run beneath the Black Sea, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Between January and April, total Russian gas deliveries to the Turkish market amounted to 8.3 billion cubic metres, representing a 6% decline compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.
Despite the decrease recorded in the opening months of the year, Russian gas exports to Türkiye remained broadly stable in 2025. Earlier reports indicated that total deliveries reached 21.16 billion cubic metres last year, marking a modest annual increase of 0.4%.
Russia supplies natural gas to Türkiye through two major offshore pipeline routes across the Black Sea.
The Blue Stream pipeline, which entered commercial operation in early 2003, has a design capacity of 16 billion cubic metres per year and stretches 1,213 kilometres.
TurkStream, which began operations in January 2020, consists of two parallel strings. One line is dedicated to supplying natural gas to Turkish consumers, while the second serves markets in Southern and Southeastern Europe.
The pipeline system has a combined annual capacity of 31.5 billion cubic metres and remains a key route for Russian gas exports to the region.
