Russia's Ryazan oil refinery and Wildberries warehouse ignited in morning UAV attack PHOTO / VIDEO

A Ukrainian drone strike targeted industrial targets in Russia’s Ryazan region, setting fire to a major oil refinery and a distribution warehouse complex.

According to open-source intelligence (OSINT) analysis by the independent news outlet ASTRA, the attack ignited fires at the Ryazan Oil Refinery — one of Russia's largest fuel processing facilities — as well as a nearby warehouse hub operated by the Russian e-commerce company Wildberries.

The morning operation was first made public when the monitoring channel Exilenova+ published video footage depicting thick columns of smoke billowing above an industrial complex, accompanied by the distinct sound of small-arms fire as defence forces attempted to shoot down the incoming drones. OSINT researchers cross-referenced the geolocation of the footage to confirm that the strike hit the grounds of the Ryazan refinery.

The Governor of the Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, confirmed that a large-scale drone attack took place during the morning hours, stating that air defence systems were engaged. While acknowledging that fires broke out "in industrial areas" and reporting that six people were injured, the regional governor refrained from specifically identifying the targeted enterprises by name.

The Ryazan Oil Refinery, operated by state oil giant Rosneft, is a critical component of Russia's energy infrastructure, processing roughly 17.1 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The strategic facility has been targeted by Ukrainian long-range strikes, including an attack on May 15 that forced a temporary shutdown of its operations.
