Russia’s security service foils bomb plot targeting senior Russian official
Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained three individuals suspected of planting an explosive device in an electric scooter in Moscow in an alleged attempt to assassinate a senior law enforcement official.
The FSB said it prevented the attack and seized 1.5 kilograms of explosives disguised as a charging station, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The first suspect, a Ukrainian citizen and serviceman in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, reportedly took part in combat operations against Russian forces.
He was allegedly recruited by Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) in 2025 and sent to Moscow for reconnaissance and to carry out the killing of a military serviceman.
He is said to have assembled and planted the explosive device.
The second suspect, a Moldovan citizen, was allegedly recruited by Ukrainian intelligence services in 2025 in Chișinău and sent to Moscow.
His role was reportedly reconnaissance: he is said to have visited a business centre in advance and arranged a live video stream to determine the timing of the attack.
The third suspect, a Russian citizen, allegedly filmed the target location on behalf of the SBU in exchange for payment, helping determine where to park the electric scooter, according to the report.
