Russia’s Sukhoi Superjet 100 encounters multiple failures during one day VIDEO
Five incidents involving Russia's Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100) aircraft occurred during one day - November 24.
In the morning, the pilots of the Azimuth Airlines aircraft, flying from Ufa to Krasnoyarsk, reported to air traffic controllers about a low fluid level in the hydraulic system before descending. They requested to stop on the runway after landing and to be towed by a tug. An emergency situation was not declared, Caliber.Az reports via Russian Telegram channel.
A similar issue occurred with an SSJ-100 aircraft of Rossiya Airlines, operating on the St. Petersburg–Moscow route. Despite the report of a low fluid level in the hydraulic system, the aircraft's captain decided to continue the flight and requested a tug for towing after landing. Ultimately, the aircraft landed safely and proceeded to its parking spot on its own.
Two and a half hours later, an SSJ-100 aircraft of Azimuth Airlines caught fire during landing at Antalya Airport in Türkiye. All passengers and crew were successfully evacuated via emergency slides. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and no one was injured. The other two incidents occurred around midnight. At Sochi Airport, an SSJ-100 aircraft of Red Wings stopped its takeoff due to a malfunction during the runway acceleration.
A few minutes later, as the aircraft was approaching Pulkovo Airport, the cockpit of an SSJ-100 from Rossiya Airlines received a warning about a landing gear malfunction. The crew reported the issue, performed a go-around, and an emergency was declared at the airport.
The aircraft landed safely. The damage caused by the fire on the SSJ-100 in Antalya has been preliminarily estimated at two to three billion roubles. A source in the insurance market emphasised that the aircraft was a "total loss."
