Russia says it downed Ukrainian drones over Orenburg, 1,000 km from frontline
Drones from Ukrainian forces struck Russia’s Orenburg region, located around 1,000 kilometres from the frontline, the Ministry of Defence reported on Telegram.
According to the ministry, six drones were shot down over the region on the morning of December 24. Orenburg lies far from the active conflict zone, making it one of the most remote areas targeted so far.
Three drones were intercepted on their approach to Moscow. The city’s mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, confirmed that emergency services are attending the sites where debris has fallen.
According to the ministry, the drones were intercepted over several regions:
-
9 over Crimea
-
6 over Orenburg Oblast
-
3 over Kaluga Oblast
-
2 over Bryansk Oblast
-
1 over the Moscow region
-
1 over Bashkortostan
-
1 over Belgorod Oblast
The ministry stated that all drones were eliminated using standard air defence systems.
