Russia says North–South Transport Corridor strengthens Eurasian connectivity
Russia’s Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has highlighted the strategic importance of the North–South Transport Corridor in enhancing connectivity across the Eurasian region.
Speaking at a meeting with Iran’s First Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Aref in Moscow, Mishustin said that special attention was being given to the development of the corridor, describing it as a key route for regional integration, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
Aref is in Russia to participate in a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states.
The North–South Transport Corridor is a 7,200-kilometre multimodal route stretching from Saint Petersburg to Mumbai, India.
It comprises three main routes: the Trans-Caspian corridor, which uses a combination of rail and ports, and two land-based routes to the east and west.
