Russia slams Armenia's stance on Zangazur communication agreements
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has expressed frustration with Armenia's position regarding the Zangazur region's communications, stating that it is challenging for Russia to understand Yerevan's actions.
Lavrov criticized Armenia for undermining the agreements aimed at unblocking communications through the Zangazur region, as he was interviewed by Channel One Russia, the text of which was published on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website, Caliber.Az reports.
He highlighted that these agreements, which were signed by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, are crucial for establishing a peaceful resolution and improved connectivity. Lavrov expressed difficulty in comprehending Armenia’s reluctance to adhere to these agreements.
"The Russian position remains firmly in favor of the prompt conclusion of a peace treaty and the unblocking of communications," Lavrov stated.
"Unfortunately, it is the Armenian leadership that is obstructing the agreements that were previously endorsed with the signature of Prime Minister Pashinyan. It is hard to understand the rationale behind such a stance."
The Russian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of adhering to the trilateral agreements reached by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia between 2020 and 2022. Lavrov reiterated that these agreements cover all critical aspects of the situation and outline the necessary steps for a comprehensive resolution.
"The foundation laid by these trilateral meetings and documents remains fully relevant," Lavrov concluded.
