Russian air assault causes fires and infrastructure damage across Ukraine
Russian forces carried out a large-scale air assault on Ukraine last night, employing three S-300 surface-to-air guided missiles and a swarm of attack drones, the Ukrainian Air Force reported via RBC-Ukraine.
According to preliminary information, the Russian military launched three S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles from the Kursk region, alongside 164 attack drones of various types, including “Shahed” and “Gerbera.”
The drones approached from multiple directions, including Millerovo, Kursk, Orel, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, with approximately 100 identified as Shaheds.
Ukrainian forces repelled the attack using aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, mobile fire groups, and unmanned defence systems.
As of 09:00 a.m., the Air Force reported that 136 enemy drones had been shot down or neutralised across the north, south, east, and central regions of Ukraine. Despite these efforts, 27 drones struck targets in 12 locations, while debris from downed UAVs fell in four additional areas. Individual enemy drones remained active in Ukrainian airspace into the morning.
Overnight attacks caused damage and fires in multiple regions. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, several neighbourhoods were hit, igniting fires and damaging a hospital. In Poltava, a warehouse storing finished products caught fire, affecting roughly 1,500 square meters of the facility.
Zaporizhzhia also experienced renewed attacks, resulting in multiple fires and damage to an educational institution.
