Russian defence chief conducts inspection of cruise missile factory
The Russian Minister of Defence, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, has inspected the implementation of the state defence order at the Bereznyak State Machine Building Design Bureau Raduga in the Moscow Region.
Caliber.Az reports citing the Russian Defence Ministry that the head of the Russian military inspected the production facilities of the enterprise and the technological process of development, production and modernisation of guided missiles of various classes.
Sergei Bogatikov, the general director of the Raduga State Design Bureau, said: "The range of one of the products, the production of which has been increased following the state defence order, is 250 kilometres".
The range should be increased to 300 kilometres and more, Shoigu demanded.
Boris Obnosov, general director of the Tactical Missile Armament JSC corporation, said that a new product with a range of 310 kilometres had already been tested. "We have lowered the cost of the missile and there is a doubling of the product's power".
"The missile's warhead is now 800 kg, its weight almost doubled as it was 450 kg before," reported Colonel-General Yuri Grekhov, the deputy commander in chief of the Aerospace Forces for the armaments sector.
Air-to-ground cruise missiles, anti-radar and anti-ship missiles and advanced guided weapons were presented to the Russian defence minister.
