Russian diplomat: Baku, Yerevan committed to CIS dialogue
The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) continues to observe strong interest in participation from both Armenia and Azerbaijan, according to Andrei Grozov, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the statutory and other bodies of the CIS.
In an interview with TASS, Grozov emphasised the engagement of both countries in the organisation’s activities.
“I would like to emphasise that we see interest in participating in the work of our association from both the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides,” he said.
Addressing a question regarding cooperation between Armenia and Azerbaijan within the CIS framework, Grozov highlighted that the member states aim to resolve any existing issues “in an atmosphere of good neighbourliness and mutual respect.”
“And on the Russian side, we always try to encourage our partners to engage in constructive cooperation. States themselves make decisions, guided by their own considerations, to participate in the work of certain bodies. This is their sovereign right,” the Russian diplomat explained, commenting on the absence of Azerbaijani representatives at the recent meeting of the CIS Economic Council.
