Russian FM accuses Western powers of orchestrating "color revolution" in Georgia
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has accused Western countries of attempting to destabilize Georgia by fostering internal divisions and provoking a change of power through mass protests.
Speaking at the 20th session of the meeting of the heads of Security Agencies and Intelligence Services of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states, Lavrov described these actions as part of a broader strategy by the West to incite internal conflicts in nations outside its sphere of influence, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
"The collective West is provoking internal conflicts and tensions, employing a range of underhanded geopolitical tactics—from orchestrating large-scale information wars to directly instigating color revolutions, as is currently being attempted in Georgia," Lavrov stated.
The Russian Foreign Minister further accused the West of leveraging a vast network of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to undermine political stability in countries across the Global South and East.
He emphasized that the West's actions have escalated to the point where extremist forces are being used to further these destabilizing goals, particularly within the Commonwealth of Independent States.
