At least four people were killed and six others injured in the Kharkiv region following a massive Russian attack over the night of January 12 to 13, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said on its Telegram channel.
Russian forces struck a postal terminal in a suburb of Kharkiv late at night, causing extensive destruction, Caliber.Az cites the channel.
Several buildings were damaged, and multiple fires broke out across a total area of about 500 square metres.
Emergency responders rescued 30 people during search-and-rescue operations, including two who were pulled alive from under the rubble of a collapsed structure.
Firefighting and emergency rescue operations are still ongoing.
Meanwhile, Russian overnight strikes on Ukraine’s southern city of Odesa left at least five people injured, as announced by the head of the city’s military administration, Serhiy Lysak
All the wounded are receiving necessary medical assistance, Lysak added.
He said that as a result of two waves of Russian strikes on the city, residential buildings and social infrastructure facilities in the city centre were damaged, including a hospital, a kindergarten and a school.
Operational headquarters had been deployed at the affected sites, with public utilities and emergency units working to eliminate the consequences of the strikes and assess the damage, Lysak added.
