Russian parliament speaker to visit Türkiye

Speaker of the Russian State Duma (parliament) Vyacheslav Volodin will pay an official visit to Türkiye on December 12.

The speaker will lead a delegation of the lower house of parliament during a two-day visit, TASS reports, citing the press service of the State Duma.

"The program of the visit includes a meeting with the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey Mustafa Shentop, it is planned to discuss the development of inter-parliamentary relations between Russia and Türkiye," the press service announced.

The parliaments of Russia and Türkiye have been actively engaged in dialogue over the past years. In July 2019, Shentop visited Moscow and took part in the forum "Development of Parliamentarism". During the visit, he held meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, and Chairman of the State Duma Volodin.
