The wreckage of an An-24 aircraft that had lost contact was located approximately 15 kilometres from Tynda in Russia’s Amur Region, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported to Russian media on July 24.
Officials from the ministry confirmed that the burning fuselage of the An-24 was discovered during an aerial search operation. Rescue teams are currently making their way to the crash site.
The regional authorities stated that two helicopters equipped with medical personnel are on standby, ready to be dispatched to the location of the downed aircraft.
The An-24 vanished from radar on Thursday morning and ceased responding to communications. According to the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor’s Office, the plane had attempted to circle the airport twice before landing, without reporting any technical issues. Weather conditions at Tynda Airport at the time were challenging, with low cloud cover and rain.
The aircraft, operated by Angara Airlines, was on a flight from Khabarovsk to Blagoveshchensk, continuing on to Tynda. There were 43 individuals aboard, including five children.
