Russian peacekeepers set to complete withdrawal from Azerbaijan VIDEO

The withdrawal of the Russian peacekeeping contingent from Azerbaijan's Karabakh economic region is nearing completion, head of the press service of the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry, Colonel Anar Eyvazov told journalists.  

Colonel Eyvazov noted that under the agreement reached between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia on the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from the territory of the country, an event is held in connection with the termination of the Russian peacekeepers. High-ranking officers from Azerbaijan and Russia are taking part in the event, APA reports.

He confirmed that the withdrawal process is well underway. "The process of withdrawal of peacekeepers from the territory is currently ongoing and will be finalized in the near future. Now we are at the base of peacekeepers deployed on the territory of Azerbaijan. I would like to note that the withdrawal of peacekeepers from the territory of Azerbaijan is carried out under the plan," Eyvazov added.

Meanwhile, an event on the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan is underway in Khojaly district.

High-ranking military officials from both countries are attending the event, according to a report from Khojaly, Report informs.

Russian peacekeepers were temporarily deployed on the territory of Azerbaijan under the trilateral statement signed on November 10, 2020. Later, the top leadership of the two countries made a decision on the withdrawal of the peacekeepers from the territory of Azerbaijan.
