Russian security forces kill Kislovodsk resident during detention operation

Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) officers killed a Kislovodsk resident during a detention operation, claiming he was involved in a foiled December 2025 attack targeting military personnel in Stavropol.

According to the FSB’s Public Relations Centre, the 1982-born man allegedly planted an explosive device on orders from Ukrainian intelligence, which an 18-year-old woman later attempted to use to target a vehicle near a military unit, Caliber.Az reports via the ASTRA Telegram channel.

During the arrest attempt, the man “offered armed resistance” and was killed by “return fire.” No injuries among law enforcement or civilians were reported. 

Authorities recovered a Makarov pistol, an F-1 hand grenade, and a backpack containing a foreign-made improvised explosive device.

On December 26, 2025, the FSB said it had detained the 18-year-old woman in Stavropol, claiming she was preparing an attack on a Russian Defence Ministry officer under orders from Ukrainian intelligence.
