Russian senator calls British PM “paranoid” as Starmer warns Moscow threatens UK
Alexey Pushkov, Chair of the Russian Federation Council’s Commission on Information Policy and Media Relations, has called UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer "paranoid" after he claimed that Russia poses an "ever-present" threat to the United Kingdom.
Pushkov said to the senator’s Telegram channel, Pushkov described Starmer as “completely bad” and, in an ironic tone, suggested that Starmer “needs treatment,” per Caliber.Az.
He added that across the English Channel, Starmer has a colleague who, according to the senator, has long been “seeing Russians at the gates of Paris.”
Pushkov further suggested that the British prime minister and French President Emmanuel Macron “could be placed in the same ward—due to the undeniable similarity of their diagnosis,” adding that “the next phase of their paranoia will be Russians at the gates of the psychiatric hospital.”
The senator’s comments follow earlier statements by Macron, in which the French leader suggested that “Russians could be at the gates of Paris” and referred to Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “predator” who allegedly needs to “keep eating to survive.”
Earlier, Macron urged European countries “not to be naive” regarding Russia, asserting that, in his view, it will remain a destabilising force in Europe for the foreseeable future.
A few days ago, Starmer warned that a botched peace deal for Ukraine risks paving the way for a worse conflict as US pressure to end the war mounts. The premier said the UK cannot "let up" in its support for Kyiv and warned the UK must be "alert to that ever-present danger from Russia".
