Russian teenager detained for setting fire to police vehicle VIDEO
A 17-year-old teenager has been detained in Russia's Kemerovo region on suspicion of setting fire to a police vehicle outside a police station, regional investigators said.
According to the regional branch of Russia's Investigative Committee, the incident occurred on June 17 in the city of Anzhero-Sudzhensk in southwestern Siberia, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"A 17-year-old local resident has been detained in Kuzbass on charges of deliberate arson. [...] According to the investigation, on 17 June 2026, the teenager set fire to a police vehicle near one of the police stations in Anzhero-Sudzhensk," the committee's press office said in a statement.
According to Irina Volk, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the teenager allegedly acted on instructions from an unidentified individual who contacted him through a messaging application and threatened to disclose his personal information.
Volk said the suspect was instructed to purchase flammable liquid and later gained unauthorised access to the police station's grounds. He then allegedly set fire to a service vehicle parked on the premises while livestreaming the act to the person directing him via a video connection.
Police officers at the station quickly extinguished the fire, preventing further damage. The teenager was detained shortly after the incident, and authorities seized his smartphone and other items as evidence.
