Scottish Island on market for £190k Sheikh Yasser al-Habib's purchase bid rejected
Islamic cleric Sheikh Yasser al-Habib, known for his controversial views, has been thwarted in his attempt to buy the remote Scottish island of Torsa to establish a Sharia-based state.
Despite raising £3 million for the purchase, the island’s owner has decided against selling it to him, Caliber.Az reports citing foreign media.
Al-Habib might now consider other options, though finding a seller could be challenging given his militant reputation. Meanwhile, Fladda-Chuain, another Scottish island, has been listed for sale with a guide price of £190,000. Located off the northern coast of Skye, Fladda-Chuain is the largest island in its chain but lacks basic amenities and accommodations.
The island spans nearly 67 acres and features dramatic cliffs, coves, and a sea lagoon. Historically considered mystical by local fishermen, Fladda-Chuain is now largely uninhabited except for the ruins of a chapel built by St Columba.
The island is noted for its exceptional views of the surrounding Scottish landscape and is home to various bird species and a seal colony. Prospective buyers will need to arrange transportation by boat or other watercraft to reach the island.
