Security chief: Armenia's future relations with Russia hinge on Moscow's position

26 June 2024 12:31
Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan emphasized that future developments in Armenia's security and military cooperation with Russia are contingent upon Moscow's stance, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.

Grigoryan noted a significant decrease in Russia's contribution to Armenia's arms and military equipment supplies, from 96% previously to less than 10%. He clarified that this reduction was a decision made by the Russian Federation itself.

"It was Russia's decision to halt arms and ammunition supplies. Interestingly, despite complaints from Russian representatives about Armenia's procurement from other countries, they have yet to fulfill the contracts planned for 2021-2022," Grigoryan remarked.

The Security Council Secretary cited the ongoing conflict in Ukraine as a reason provided by Russian partners for the cessation of deliveries.
