Senior Hamas naval commander eliminated in precision Israeli strike in Gaza VIDEO
Iyad Abu Yosef, the deputy commander of Hamas’ naval police, was killed in a precision strike carried out by the Israeli Air Force, in coordination with the Israeli Navy and the IDF Intelligence Directorate, as part of ongoing military operations in the Gaza Strip.
The operation was announced in a statement published by the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit on its official X account, Caliber.Az reports.

The strike took place in the Central Camps area of Gaza and was described as a significant blow to Hamas’ maritime capabilities.
Abu Yosef played a direct role in the October 7, 2023, cross-border assault on Israel, in which Hamas militants launched a large-scale attack resulting in numerous civilian and military casualties. The IDF further stated that he was involved in planning ambushes against Israeli forces during subsequent fighting in Gaza and took part in securing strategic assets for the terrorist organization.
His elimination, the IDF noted, weakens Hamas’ naval police unit, which is responsible for gathering intelligence on Israeli troop movements and maintaining maritime control on behalf of Hamas’ military wing.
The targeted strike was conducted under Operation Gideon’s Chariots 2, which focuses on dismantling Hamas' operational infrastructure and eliminating senior personnel. The Israeli Navy’s 916th Patrol Squadron played a key role in the mission, providing both real-time intelligence and naval fire support in coordination with air and ground forces.
“Sailors of the 916th fleet of the Israeli Navy constitute an important operational component of the ground operation in the Gaza Strip; the unit provides naval fire support and rapid operational action from the sea, air, and land,” the IDF emphasized,
