Seoul warns North Korea of regime collapse over nuclear threats
The North Korean regime will face destruction if it attempts to use nuclear weapons, warned President Yoon Suk-yeol of South Korea during an Armed Forces Day ceremony on October 1.
The event took place at Seongnam Air Base in Gyeonggi-do Province, Caliber.Az reports via Korean media.
"Our military will immediately respond to North Korea's provocations by using all of its combat capabilities in alliance with the United States," President Yoon declared, stressing that the retaliation would be "decisive and overwhelming."
Yoon further noted, "History has proven that the only way to preserve peace is to strengthen our power so that the enemy will not dare to challenge us," urging North Korea to abandon the belief that nuclear weapons ensure its security.
He highlighted the formation of the new Strategic Command, which will integrate South Korea's advanced military capabilities with those of the United States to safeguard the nation against North Korean threats.
The ceremony drew approximately 5,000 troops and featured 340 pieces of military equipment, including Hyunmu surface-to-surface ballistic missiles, K9 self-propelled howitzers, and four-legged robots.
