Serbia secures short-term gas deal with Russia, president announces
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that Serbia has agreed to a three-month extension of its gas supply contract with Russia following a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to Vucic, the discussion covered a range of bilateral issues, including cooperation in pharmaceuticals, energy, and the involvement of Russian entities in Serbian development projects. Among the key outcomes of the call was an agreement to prolong gas deliveries beyond the current contract, which is set to expire on March 31.
Vucic said he had reached an understanding with Putin to extend the agreement for an additional three months, ensuring continued energy supplies for Serbia in the short term.
However, the Kremlin has not formally confirmed the extension. The Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that he could only verify that “one of the conversations (held by Vladimir Putin) was a telephone conversation with Vucic,” without providing further details on the substance of the talks.
