Serbian president warns preventing World War III could be extremely difficult
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has warned that preventing a third world war could be extremely difficult, suggesting it may have already begun.
In an interview with German newspaper Berliner Zeitung, Vučić said: “Maybe it has already started – we just don’t talk about it officially yet.” He cited the ongoing global struggle for oil, gas, rare metals and minerals as key drivers of international tension.
The Serbian leader drew parallels with the First and Second World Wars, noting they initially emerged from regional conflicts before expanding through alliances into global wars.
Vučić has previously cautioned that major global conflicts are in their early stages and could result in unprecedented human suffering, with the potential use of nuclear weapons.
Despite these warnings, he reaffirmed Belgrade’s commitment to military neutrality, a policy he said has brought the country “many good things.”
