Shusha launches ECO Tourism Capital 2026 programme with regional gathering
A ceremony marking the opening of the “Shusha – Tourism Capital of the ECO 2026” programme has been held in Shusha, bringing together high-level delegations from across the region.
Representatives from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan attended the event, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The programme forms part of activities under the Economic Cooperation Organization framework, which seeks to deepen regional cooperation in trade, transport, culture and tourism.
In the coming days, Shusha is set to host the 9th meeting of the ECO High-Level Expert Group on Tourism, a Gastronomy Day, and the 7th meeting of ECO tourism ministers, underscoring efforts to strengthen the bloc’s tourism agenda.
Shusha was designated as the ECO Tourism Capital for 2026 at the 5th meeting of ECO tourism ministers in 2023.
The series of events is being organised in line with the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers’ action plan.
