Singapore increases imports of Russian oil products amid Middle East supply disruptions
Singapore has significantly increased imports of Russian oil products amid disruptions in supplies from the Middle East, according to the Financial Times (FT).
The newspaper reports that in April, shipments from Russia more than doubled compared to the monthly average recorded in 2025. The increase is linked to the consequences of the ongoing tensions surrounding Iran and restrictions on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy transit route.
At the same time, deliveries from Gulf countries have declined sharply, falling to around 336,000 barrels per day in March–April, compared with 522,000 barrels per day at the beginning of the year.
In contrast, imports of Russian oil products have risen to approximately 585,000 barrels per day, with April volumes potentially reaching their highest level since 2016, the FT reported.
