WSJ: US fired over 1,000 Tomahawk missiles since Iran war began
The United States has fired more than 1,000 long-range Tomahawk missiles since the war with Iran began on February 28, according to U.S. officials who declined to give exact figures.
Officials also said the U.S. used about 1,500 to 2,000 critical air-defense missiles, including THAAD, Patriot and Standard Missile interceptors, The Wall Street Journal reports.
U.S. officials said the large-scale use of munitions has raised concerns about stockpile levels and could take up to six years to fully replace. They noted that this has prompted internal discussions about adjusting operational plans in case of future contingencies.
Defense analysts cited in reporting said the depletion is more pronounced in defensive systems such as missile interceptors, with some estimating significant portions of THAAD, Patriot, SM-3 and SM-6 inventories have been used.
