Slovak delegation visits Jidir Duzu in Azerbaijan’s Shusha
A delegation led by Chairman of the National Council of Slovakia Boris Kollar traveled to Jidir Duzu (Jidir Plain) in Azerbaijan’s Shusha city at the end of his visit on September 6.
The Slovak delegation was informed about Jidir Duzu. The heroic warriors of Azerbaijan, having shown great courage, climbed here along the steep cliffs and, at the cost of their lives, liberated Shusha from the Armenian occupation. Today, Jidir Duzu, as before the occupation, is a venue for grandiose events, according to Trend.
The members of the delegation were told that equestrian competitions, chovgan competitions (Azerbaijani traditional horse-riding game played on a flat, grassy field by two competing teams of players on Garabagh horses), holidays dedicated to Novruz, and other folk festivals have been held at Jidir Duzu since ancient times.
Jidir Duzu has always been a favourite vacation spot for Shusha residents and guests of the city. After the grand victory of Azerbaijan in the 44-day second Garabagh war, Shusha was declared the cultural capital of the country upon the Azerbaijani president’s order on May 7, 2021. Holding of Vagif Poetry Days and the Kharibulbul festival here was resumed upon the same order.
This is Kollar’s second visit to Shusha. The previous visit was made on June 11, 2022.
