Split in Armenian PM's party after his visit to Moscow
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Moscow has brought discord into Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract faction, Caliber.Az reports referring to Yerevan’s "Graparak" newspaper.
"According to our sources, after the joint statement made by Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the western or, more precisely, the Soros sector literally rallies inside the parliament and openly threatens Pashinyan for "licking the Russian boots" and avoiding the West,” the message said. “Moreover, the other pro—Russian wing was full of enthusiasm.”
Although Pashinyan did not meet with the MPs either before or after the visit to Moscow, did not inform about the results of the visit, the fact of brief mentioning of the Karabakh problem in the text of the statement allowed the pro-governmental MPs to positively assess the visit from the point of view of settlement, the report added.
“The fact is that a few weeks ago, after the Brussels meeting, President of the European Council Charles Michel did not mention a word about Karabakh,” the message said. “Our source reminded that this is the third such case when Karabakh is not mentioned following the results of trilateral meetings in the European Union.”
“There was not such a term as "Karabakh" in the reports circulated by the sides after the meeting among Michel, Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on December 14, 20121, as well as after the online meeting in February 2022 among the leaders of France, Armenia and Azerbaijan,” the message said.
