State data: Nearly 90,000 people live in Azerbaijan's Karabakh region

Nearly 90,000 people reside in Azerbaijan's Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions as of early June, according to new figures released by the country's State Statistics Committee.

The committee noted that the population of Azerbaijan's liberated territories reached 88,123 during the reporting period, Caliber.Az reports.

Of that total, 36,492 people had returned to their homes under the Azerbaijani government's first state resettlement programme, known as the "Great Return."

The remaining residents include people involved in reconstruction efforts, public services, and other economic activities in the region.
