Street in Khankendi named after Ottoman figure Enver Pasha
04 November 2025 17:47
A street in the city of Khankendi has been named in honour of Enver Pasha, an Ottoman military and political leader.
According to the decision, one of the city’s central streets will now bear his name, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Enver Pasha was a key figure in the late Ottoman Empire and one of the leaders of the Young Turks movement. He is also known for promoting the idea of Turkic unity.
Historical accounts note that in 1918, Caucasian Islamic Army under the command of Nuru Pasha — acting on orders from Enver Pasha, then the Ottoman Empire’s Minister of War —liberated a significant part of Azerbaijan's territory from Armenian-Dashnak occupation.
