The incidents involved rapid-response deployments of JAS 39 Gripen multirole fighters following the detection of Russian aircraft in the region, Caliber.

The Swedish Armed Forces said the operations were conducted after heightened surveillance identified activity near national airspace boundaries.
In two separate encounters, Russian Su-24 and Su-34 aircraft were identified and subsequently monitored and escorted by Swedish jets.
Authorities stressed that no violations of Swedish airspace occurred. The interceptions were described as routine defensive measures aimed at safeguarding territorial integrity and maintaining situational awareness in the region.
