Switzerland joins EU's 14th sanctions package against Russia
Switzerland has announced the adoption of additional measures from the European Union’s 14th sanctions package against Russia, set to take effect on August 27.
This decision, made by the Federal Council, builds upon previous sanctions imposed on July 9, which targeted 69 individuals and 47 entities, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The new measures include a clarification and tightening of bans on Russian diamonds to ensure international consistency. The updated sanctions also extend the deadlines for exemption permits related to Swiss investments in Russia, facilitating a legal withdrawal of business activities by Swiss companies.
The EU's 14th sanctions package, enacted on June 24, encompasses restrictions on 116 Russian individuals and entities, along with export bans on dual-use items and technologies affecting 61 firms from non-EU countries such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, the UAE, and Türkiye.
