Syrian rebels shell university dormitory, killing four, injuring two
Syrian rebels have fired artillery shells at a student dormitory within the University of Aleppo's campus, killing four and injuring two, while causing significant damage to the building.
Opposition factions have succeeded in taking control of the villages of Tel Karatin, Abu Kansah, and Al-Talihah in rural Idlib, Caliber.Az reports, citing Syrian media.
Moreover, villages and towns of Al-Mansurah, Jib Kaas, and Al-Bawabiya in the southern and western rural areas of Aleppo were also seized.
These gains came after intense clashes between the two sides, which were further intensified by heavy artillery fire from rebel groups aimed at clearing a path for their advancement into these regions.
Additionally, reports indicate fierce fighting continues in the area around the town of Saraqib in eastern Idlib.
Meanwhile, Syrian opposition forces have announced the capture of 32 villages and areas in western rural Aleppo following a large-scale assault on Syrian regime positions.
The newly seized territory spans 245 square kilometres, bringing the opposition within 5 kilometres of Aleppo city. Key villages captured include Urm Al-Kubra, Anjara, and Kafr Basma, as well as the regime’s military Base 46.
The Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham group and its allies also reported the capture of heavy military equipment and the detention of several regime soldiers. Thousands of civilians have fled towards northwestern Idlib to escape the fighting.
The Syrian civil war, ongoing since 2011, continues to escalate as regime forces face significant resistance from opposition groups.
