Tajikistan's president begins state visit to Azerbaijan
President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has arrived in the Republic of Azerbaijan for a state visit.
A guard of honour was lined up for the President of Tajikistan at Heydar Aliyev International Airport decorated with the national flags of the two countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azertag.
President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon was welcomed by First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyyubov, Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov, and other officials.
During his state visit to Azerbaijan, President Rahmon visited the Alley of Honors to pay tribute to National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the architect and founder of the independent Azerbaijani state.
The Tajik leader laid a wreath at the grave of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
President Rahmon also placed flowers at the grave of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
Moreover, Tajikistan’s president visited the Alley of Martyrs in Baku and paid tribute to Azerbaijani heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence and territorial integrity. He also laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame monument.
The Tajikistani president then enjoyed a panoramic view of Baku as he was informed about the history of the Alley of Martyrs and the redevelopment works carried out in the city.
