Tehran, Yerevan set sights on strategic alliance, eye regional connectivity
Armenia and Iran are in the process of preparing a strategic partnership document, officials confirmed.
Majid Takht Ravanchi, Iran's current Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, stated that both sides aim to sign the agreement during the next visit of the Armenian Prime Minister to Tehran, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Addressing questions on the unblocking of regional transport routes, Takht-Ravanchi emphasized that Iran has consistently supported efforts to enhance regional connectivity. “We maintain the position that Armenia is an independent, sovereign state whose territorial integrity must be respected,” he said.
He added that the development of the South Caucasus benefits all countries in the region, noting that open roads should allow mutual access within the framework of international law and recognized borders.
