Three years pass since Azerbaijan's liberation of Hadrut settlement
The Azerbaijani army liberated on October 9, 2020, several settlements from Armenian occupation, including the strategic Hadrut settlement.
In a public address on the same day three years ago, President Ilham Aliyev said the settlement of Hadrut in the Kohjavand district, as well as several villages including Chayli, Yukhari Guzlak, Gorazilli, Gishlag, Garajalli, Afandilar, Suleymanli and Sur, had rejoined with the rest of Azerbaijan's territory in a "historic victory."
With the liberation of Hadrut, the province of Fuzuli was surrounded, facilitating the advancement of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces. Namely after reclaiming Hadrut the Azerbaijani army headed for the city of Shusha.
"We'll take our lands. We want to get them in a peaceful way," President Aliyev said back then.
On March 16, 2021, President Aliyev raised the state flag in Hadrut.
After the liberation, construction and restoration work began in the liberated settlement. In December 2021, President Aliyev inaugurated an all-new Commando Special Forces unit in Hadrut.
“The opening of a new military unit in Hadrut today is a very significant event. Also, this region is of strategic importance. Our strong armed forces based in Hadrut will protect our security, the security of our country,” President Aliyev said back then.
In October 2022, the Family Health Center (FHC) began operating in Hadrut. The health centre building was put into operation after a major overhaul being provided with all necessary medical equipment and supplies. The centre has a 24-hour Emergency and Immediate Medical Service, equipped with an ambulance.
Later on May 5, 2023, President Aliyev got acquainted with the project for the restoration of a high school for 360 students in Hadrut.
On the same day, the president of Azerbaijan took part in the ceremony of laying the foundation of the first residential quarter in the settlement. The block will consist of 28 individual houses of two, three, four, and five rooms.
